Project Life Tuesday: Week 4

Sunday, January 24
28 Weeks pregnant today. The devotion included my favorite verse and so appropriate for my growing little one... Jeremiah 29:11.

Monday, January 25
Pickles thinks all boxes are meant for her to chew on or sit/lay in.

Tuesday, January 26
The picture for today will be a copy of the invitation I received to the baby shower in Knoxville. Jessica did a great job putting together the invitations and they turned out adorable! The first time I've seen his name in print! Guess I better get working on finishing up that registry!!

Wednesday, January 27

Cute clothes from Pappy and Mamaw for their grandson on the way. I have such fun imagining what he'll look like in his new clothes! Notice the theme... UT and Ole Miss!

Thursday, January 28
Today's pic is a printout of the bedding/website I ordered for the baby. I've fallen in love with Pirate's Cove and was so disappointed when I found out it was out of stock everywhere. I thought I had found at this place online, but was so sad when I got a call from them today saying it was out of stock until April. Their customer service was so great... they offered to send me another bedding set until mine comes back in stock and then keep it for free! I decided to keep the order and we'll just wait until it comes in.

Friday, January 29
All day was spent in anticipation of the big snow! School was out, just in case. Thankfully, I was able to work almost my full day before it started snowing and I headed home to hibernate for the weekend.

Saturday, January 30
No go anywhere for us today! Too much ice/slush/snow!

First Doc Appt/Ultrasound

My first doctor's appointment was the next week on September 1. It was my first time at this office, which is not the ideal situation, but seriously I've been to 4 different doctors since moving here and EVERY one of them left their practice within months of my going to them. It finally got the point where my criteria was that the doc be in practice for the next 10 months, and a little recommendation from Jessica didn't hurt either.

Anyway I met with the nurse practitioner on my first appointment. It amazed me that they just took my word that I was pregnant. Not that I think people make this up, but I was hoping for a little more "confirmation". I later remembered that I did give them a sample and I'm sure they probably ran a test off of that. By my estimations, I was about 7 weeks and my due date would be April 14, 2010. They agreed, but would set my real due date after my first ultrasound. I scheduled the first ultrasound for the next Tuesday.

I should mention that by this time, I was already not feeling great. I pretty much felt nauseous all the time, didn't want to eat, but had not yet thrown up. I had first noticed the sick, not wanting to eat feeling the weekend that my mom was in town for my birthday (just before we actually got the plus sign).

After the first doctor's appointment, and since I was already almost 2 months, we were ready to go ahead and tell everyone else. And by ready, I of course mean we couldn't hardly stand it anymore! We each called grandparents and aunts and cousins and friends. I had my aunts take pictures of my grandmothers when they got the news, since I couldn't be there to tell them in person. They were both thrilled, of course!

Aleasha has been planning her wedding (minus the groom) for after she gets out of school. She put me and Zach on a deadline of having a kid in the next year or so because they had to be old enough to be in the wedding. When I called her, all I said was that I was going to meet her deadline. It took her about a second and she was screaming! She immediately asked if they could start buying baby stuff!

Tues Sept 8, we had the first ultrasound. Zach got to come and after the initial shock of what kind of ultrasound we were having, we got to see our baby for the first time. It was confirmed that there was only one baby in there and that he/she was measuring a little smaller than what we had originally thought. I think the most amazing thing for me was getting to hear the heartbeat. It hit me that there really was a living thing growing inside me. I was in awe. And it made all the sickness I had already been experiencing, seem a little more worth it.

I decided he looked like a lima bean. And since it was way too soon to know the gender, I chose to call him lima bean. Mom quickly pointed out that lima beans were a northern thing and that this baby was clearly southern, so butterbean it was.

Sharing our News

We had talked about how we would tell our families and friends when we found out for sure. At first, we thought we'd wait until the first doctor's appointment. Well when we actually saw that plus sign, there was no way either of us would be able to wait to tell our parents until we went to the doctor.

As I said, we found out on my birthday, so we decided to tell Danny and Janice and Jessica at dinner that night. This wasn't officially decided until the drive to the restaurant that night! Zach couldn't stand it! They were all thrilled and it actually took a little convincing to get Jess to believe we weren't kidding. After dinner we went over to Granny June's for cake and ice cream. We had decided that we were going to wait to tell everyone else until after the doctor's appointment (which I had scheduled for the next week).

Charley happened to be in town that day, so when we got home we called Melanie and told them together. They were a bit surprised and thrilled!

I called Ben and told him he was going to be a real Uncle, not just an Uncle Ben to Jere and Pickles! He couldn't believe it either and was of course thrilled. He immediately decided it was going to be a boy!

Mom and Dad were the last calls of the day because Mom had been in class and I wanted to wait until they were together for me to tell them. They were a bit speechless (imagine that!) and were so very excited!

I had also called Lynz a little bit earlier in the evening to tell her. I think she was my favorite response of all. She actually had some clue of what was coming, whereas all of our families were shocked! I asked her if she wanted to be called Aunt Lyndsay and the next thing I heard was screaming... "Oh my gosh!" "Did you find out today?" "On your birthday?" "God is so good to you!".

She is so right. God is very good to me.

Project Life Tuesday: Week 3

Sunday, January 17 27 weeks pregnant! This was my "I'm taking this picture for my mom" face.

Monday, January 18 My task for the day was to get groceries. After a long day at work, I headed to the store to stock up. We were pretty much out of everything! I literally had a buggy overflowing. I couldn't help but think "What are we gonna do when we have to buy stuff for the baby too?" I'm thinking a monthly grocery store trip will no longer be an option!

Tuesday, January 19 Grape Salad for desert! Courtesy of Aunt Lisa's recipe. I'd been craving this since we had it at Christmas!

Wednesday, January 20 Jere's talking to me. He says "time to go to bed and quit making me take pictures".

Thursday, January 21 Thanks so much to Danny for finishing patching/painting the bathroom wall and door where the little puppy literally scratched a hole in the wall. That's one pre-baby project done!

Friday, January 22 The one little rain drop was all that was left on our tree after two days of raining, raining, raining.

Saturday, January 23 Picks is testing out momma's new chair! Our first official purchase for the nursery. It's starting out downstairs until we get the nursery furniture-ready. I spent the day breaking it in!

Project Life Tuesday: Week 2

Sunday, January 10 26 weeks. I love feeling my little one move around all the time!

Monday, January 11 We had dinner from McAlisters and took it to Danny and Janice's to eat/visit for a little while. On the way home I had Zach stop and get me a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino. Yummy! Pickles thought she should get to try it out too!

Tuesday, January 12 Our furniture is crazy with static! We are always shocking each other! This was the result of Jere's rolling around on the couch.

Wednesday, January 13 Yay for packages in the mail!! Some maternity pants and my Christmas photo book were delivered today! I'm so excited with both!

Thursday, January 14 My plan for dinner tonight was grilled cheese (as we are out of pretty much everything) but Zach decided we deserved better than that, so we ordered O'Charley's to go. I threw in this little piece of caramel pie for good measure... it was soooooo good!!

Friday, January 15 Zach joined "The Hotshot Freight Train" last fall as the mandolin player. Unfortunately they always play way past my bedtime and I never get to see them. Tonight they played at a local high school and I was finally able to see my love play live! He did so good and of course looked way hot up on stage!

Saturday, January 16 This was my weekend to work, but Dad, Ben, and Laura came and went with Danny and Zach to the Ole Miss vs. UT basketball game. It was a sad day for the Rebels. I was so happy to get to see Dad and Ben!!

Project Life Tuesday: Week 1

I've been thinking about doing a picture a day for a while now. When I found this kit, I was hooked. It lays everything out so easily and it's so cute! I learned about the kit from one of my favorite blogs and she has started a weekly post of project life pics as a way to stay more accountable and keep up with the pics throughout the year.

Here's my first week...

Friday, January 1 Traditional black eyed peas at Granny June's. We all got together at her house for a little New Year's Day celebration.

Saturday January 2 The animals are taking their places... getting ready for bed.

Sunday, January 3 Belly pic #1. This is 25 weeks. I just now got to where I think the belly shows up on a pic!

Monday, January 4 Started the first day back to work for the new year with a new shower curtain! I love the new look!

Tuesday, January 5 It's way to cold outside! I tell Cooper all the time that he is so lucky to be in his own personal waterbed right now, where it's always warm!

Wednesday, January 6 Trip to the mall to take back some Christmas gifts and spend my Bath and Body Works gift cards. I've never gotten this much stuff from there at one time, I should be set for the whole year!

Thursday, January 7 The big snow. I went into work with no snow on the ground and came out to a parking lot covered. It stunk that my last 3 clients of the day didn't show... I expected it, but I still had to wait and see.

Friday, January 8 Snow day! My doctor's appointment was cancelled and wasn't really needed at work, so me and the Jere spent the day at home. Zach had to go into work for a few hours. Poor thing had to walk to get his car from the elementary school where he parked it last night. Couldn't make it past all the crazy people on the side of the road or up the hill.

Saturday, January 9 The animals love their daddy.
