Today is my cousin's 18th birthday. I cannot believe that my youngest cousin is turning 18. That makes me old!! I am the oldest cousin and she is the youngest and we are the only girls! We kinda like it that way. That means we can be extra spoiled! I remember being so excited when she was born. I was waiting for a girl! When she was a baby, I loved to hold her as much as I possible could. I would be so frustrated when she would not want to come to me. It would take her awhile to warm up to me after not seeing each other for a few months and I just could not understand that. I wanted to know why if I remembered her just fine, why she couldn't remember me.
I was thrilled when she finally remembered me without having to warm up to me (this took several years). She and I could have been sisters. We've been told that a couple of times (more like a million)! There was one time when someone asked me "how old my children" were. I was in high school and Aleasha, Patton, and Christopher were all visiting us in Clarksville for the week and we had gone to Nashville to the mall. Aleasha and one of the boys and I went to get something to eat at the food court and someone in line asked me how old my kids were. We all three laughed. I explained they were not my kids, but my cousins. How could someone think I was old enough to kids who were in elementary/middle school. Either I looked old or they looked really young... or the person could not see very well.
Anyway, I don't think that would happen now. She has grown into a beautiful young lady and I am so very thankful for her!!
