I think that if it's your birthday you should be guaranteed to have a great day. Everyone should treat like you're special and make your day as easy as possible. Unfortunately that is not how my dad's day went. He had a yucky, hard day at work and then he didn't even get his new cell phone like he was supposed to because of the crazy people working at the AT&T store tonight. And yet, he still sounded happy and was asking about me and Zach tonight when I called him. That's one of the things I love about him. I never remember him really "bringing his work home". He could have had the worst day and been yelled at or had to make the hard decisions and we as his kiddos would never know. He loved us enough to make home... home (not work). And not take stuff out on us. Now that I'm in the "real world" I understand a little better the effort he made for us.
I am so thankful for this day that he came into the world and tonight I hope he enjoys a relaxing evening at home and lots and lots of coconut cake!!
