Truly Scrumptious

On Friday when I was driving home from work I had a very special treat to make the drive go a little faster. I'm in a bad habit of feeling like driving by myself means I should be on the phone talking to someone. Normally, I talk to my mom but on Friday she was busy so I called my friend Lyndsay.

We hadn't talked in a while and I just wanted to say hi and see how they were doing. In the background I could hear her little girl talking. Kyleigh is 2 now and is talking all the time, per Lynz. I asked to talk to her and she did. I was surprised that she would talk to me on the phone, but there she was in her sweet two-year-old not-completely-intelligible voice asking me what I was doing and if I saw any trucks or buses on the road. Apparently she loves to see buses on the road. City buses, tour buses, school buses... it doesn't matter. Lynz said she thinks its from the song "Wheels on the Bus" but she's not sure. I then had the wonderful idea of seeing if she would sing to me. Which she did. But she did not sing "Wheels on the Bus", no this precious child sang the entire song from the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang "Truly Scrumptious" with only minimal coaxing heard from Lynz. And then I heard her tell Lynz "I watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! Ok?"

I treasured that moment. I hate that I don't live closer and can't see my best friend's little girl grow up. I wish I could get Lynz into blogging, but she barely knows how to turn on the computer let alone type and upload pictures. I did tell her that she should at least video Kyleigh singing at this age. Priceless.

Times like that make me dream of the day Zach and I will have our own little ones running around. Don't get me wrong... we are NOT ready to have children. We are still learning how to be a family with just the two of us, not to mention Zach still works nights. I'm enjoying this time with just the two of us and being able to just "go" whenever we want or sleep in on a Saturday morning without a second thought. But...I still look forward to the day when we will become parents and I can call Lynz and have my little one sing a song for her.

In case you were wondering... here are the lyrics for "Truly Scrumptious"
Toot sweets sound like what they are
So do lollys in a lollypop jar
Gingerbread men have a gingerbread sound, we've found
Sugar plum cinnamon and lemon tart tell you what they are right from the start
And your name does the same for you

By coincidence, Truly Scrumptious
You're truly truly scrumptious
Scrumptious as a cherry peach parfait
When your near us
It's so delicious
Honest Truly, you're the answer to our wishes
Truly Scrumptious

Though we may seem presumptuous
Never, never, ever go away
Our hearts beat so unruly
Because we love you truly
Honest Truly, we do

Truly scrumptious
You two are truly scrumptious
Scrumptious as the breeze across the bay
When you're smiling
It's so delicious
So beguiling
You're the answer to my wishes

Truly scrumptious
You two are truly scrumptious
And I shan't forget this lovely day
My heart beats so unruly
I also love you truly
Honest truly, I do
