Snow Days

This is what we woke up to this morning...
The photo is from one of our local news channel's website. We started watching the news after a friend called to warn of the crazy weather. Freezing rain was causing lots and lots and lots of accidents so even if you could potentially make it to work it would take a while because of the delays from accidents and road closings and people having to drive slowly. They suggested waiting an hour or so before trying to come in and give time for accidents to be cleared and temperatures to warm up. So we stayed put and watched the coverage of all the other people who ventured out. In a period of 30 minutes we watched 3 accidents on an overpass and heard of 10-15 car pile ups, bridges and parts of interstates being closed, rescue vehicles in ditches, and multiple requests to please stay home. I went to work around noon and only stayed a few hours before coming home again out of fear of being stuck at work overnight as the temperatures began to fall again.

Days like today, I miss being in school and waiting for school to be canceled. That was exciting! It was a free day! Now... I dread "snow days" because I don't like to miss work and when I don't work I don't get paid. Not Fun. But I also know that it would not be worth it if I went to work and got in an accident. Then I'd have to deal with insurance companies and doctors and repair shops and my husband... and I still would have missed work.

Tonight we are home safe and warm and are getting ready for some American Idol entertainment. Tomorrow, I will have to check the news because it is supposed to re-freeze tonight. Great.

My friend wants to know how you got your cute layout. She can't find anything but the boring layouts the site offers. What's your secret?

By the way, you look great! Hope all is well for you.

We had this kind of weather here today with about 30 accidents .One young man died from one on 1-30.Schools closed and churches cancelled any services they had scheduled.I stayed in. My deck had frozen sleet on it and the drive had the same.It seems to be over and will be warmer tomorrow.
