Mom and GK came over on Thursday. While GK bonded with her new friends, Jere and Kitty, mom and I went to Wal-Mart to do some shopping I had put off until the last possible minute. Grocery shopping with my mom is so much more fun. It was cracking me up how sentimental she was being about everything. "I can't believe my daughter is pushing the buggy." "I can't believe you're buying groceries for your house." "Oooo when do we get to buy one of those." She was referring to the baby outfits.
And in a complete role reversal, she kept putting things in my buggy that I later paid for.
We (meaning mom and Zach but mostly mom) cooked a yummy meal of chicken fetichini alfredo and bread. She makes everything look so easy. And she totally took over my kitchen, which was completely fine with me!
After dinner, we got spontaneous and decided to set up a facebook page for mom. She is now addicted.
GK had never been past middle TN and being her first trip to east TN, we thought a trip to the Smoky Mountains was a must. Unfortunately, it was dreary and rainy most of the day and the drive was not as pretty as it could have been but it still was pretty and with a car full of optimists we were constantly saying we thought it was getting a little brighter out. The leaves were pretty even in the dreariness, we got stuck in Gaitlinburg traffic, and we squeezed in a quick stop to the scrapbook store and bass store. It was not so bad!
Saturday morning we gave GK a tour of the city including Big Gold Ball, Neyland Stadium, my old buildings, Cherokee park (where Zach and I got engaged) and of course Krispy Kreme doughnuts. It was fun letting her see our city.
After church, lunch, and a quick nap it was time for them to head back home. I am so very thankful that GK got to visit. It was fun showing off our home and letting her have a glimpse of our lives here.
