Dr. Mom was right again. I got my antibiodics and went home to rest. I'm pretty sure I got a sinus infection on top of the strep, because that night was probably one of my worst ever in trying to sleep when not being able to breathe. It was awful.
I went ahead and decided to make the trip anyway. I figured it would be better to be with family than to be home alone feeling sorry for myself. And I was right. The trip up there was pretty miserable but mostly from not being able to breathe through my nose and being stuck in the car.
I really felt much better after we got there. I was even able to enjoy all of the yummy food we had planned for the weekend. We started with Charley burgers followed by ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery. They had a concoction that was made just for me... cake batter ice cream with brownie bites and sprinkles in a waffle bowl.
Friday morning we went to downtown Baltimore for breakfast at the Blue Moon Cafe. We saw this on the food network show "Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins" and had been waiting to try the Capin Crunch French Toast. It was worth the wait! It was very yummy!

Next we headed to DC for a drive around town. A few observations from this day trip... 1. It is probably better to have some sort of idea of what you want to do when you get there as DC is not really the "no plans" kind of place. 2. A full tank of gas is a must. 3. A huge thank you goes to Charley for navigating the CRAZY traffic. 4. There are lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of school kids making trips to the museum of American history. We pretty much walked in and walked out. Craziness. 5. I am very very very very thankful for the quick bathroom/Starbucks stop, especially when our 45 minute ride back turned into 2 hours.

For dinner we decided on an Italian place we had tried the last time we were in town and loved it! It did not disappoint.

Saturday we slept in a little and went to "G & A" which was another place found on the "Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins" show that is famous for its hot dogs and sliders. This probably was my least favorite of the places, but it was still pretty good. I need to learn though, that pies in those places are not necessarily homemade and almost always are disappointing.
Saturday afternoon we went to a huge mall that is very strangely laid out. It was fine until we were trying to get to a particular place and had to walk the entire length of the mall 3 times to find escalators on each floor that would take us to the next floor. I did find some really cute shoes though!! We had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in the mall. Very good.
We had such a fun weekend, despite the fact that I was still not feeling all that great. I can't wait until next time... no sickness allowed!!
I am fully aware that pretty much all we did revolved around food. We had been planning most of those things for a while and were very happy to get to try them all out!!
Melanie and Charley... thanks so much for everything!! We miss you guys so much!!
