First Thanksgiving

Our day started with this smiling face. I am so thankful for this precious gift.

I had to work this morning. No one wants to work on a holiday, but this was my holiday to work and I chose to be thankful for my co-workers, my family willing to take care of little man, and that I was not the one with a family member in the hospital today.

Cooper loves hanging out with Mamaw and Pappy!

Since I had to work today, Mom and Dad decided to head over to our side of the state and spend the weekend with us. It was the first time I've had Thanksgiving Dinner in my own home. Mom brought most of the yummy food with her and baked and put the finishing touches on everything when she got here.

I decided we should use our pretty china...

Mom made sweet potato casserole and before she mixed everything together she left out some of the sweet potatoes that were mushed up. I thought that would be good for Cooper to have while we were eating our dinner. He's had Gerber sweet potatoes before and seemed to like them, so I didn't think these would be a big deal. Wrong.

He just let them sit in the roof of his mouth. He wouldn't swallow. He just made the most hilarious of faces and grunting/gagging sounds. We tried a couple of bites and then switched back to Gerber. It took him a few bites, but he quit making the funny faces and ate most of them. I feel like it was more the texture, than the taste. There was nothing added to them, and they were very dry. He's not used to that!

We spent the rest of the evening relaxing, playing with apple stuff, making our shopping plan of attack and watching football.

Friday and Saturday involved a lot of shopping (Black Friday sales!!), football, naps (not for me... I have a 7 month old), eating, crafting (vinyl for Cooper's bathroom), and loving our precious family.

Such a different Thanksgiving weekend for us, but a perfect first Thanksgiving for Cooper.
