I was working late tonight and giving a patient a cognitive assessment. One of the questions on the test is "Do you put a stamp on a letter before you mail it?" To which I thought "Crap! I forgot to mail Aleasha's card." Today is her birthday. Oops.
I was telling mom about this when I was talking to her which led to discussing mamaw and papaw and how funny they can be when it comes to birthdays. They always remember, they just may call random people and sing to them first (ie. when trying to call Ben one year they called some number up north and really tried to convince the person they were calling that they had the right number) or get the dates mixed up. None of us care... we just laugh and appreciate who they are and that they make the effort!
Less than a minute after I hung up with mom, my cell phone rang. It was mamaw and papaw...singing Happy Birthday to Aleasha. It was hilarious! It was all I could do to not bust out laughing and when they finished I said "that was beautiful, but your going to have call your other granddaughter and sing it to her now". Mamaw said "Billy!" "you said that was Aleasha's number". I hear him in the background kind of grumbling and trying to pass the blame. Regardless it was soooo funny. Priceless.
Of course I had to call mom right back and tell her. Then I called dad, who was driving home from some meetings, and heard him laugh like I haven't heard in a long time. He got a huge kick out of it!
Happy Birthday Aleasha... you are greatly loved by all of your family!!
