It's Football Time

Today is the first Saturday of the year for college football. Yeah!! I look forward to football season every year. I was pretty much raised that way. I've been watching football since I was a baby. Mom and dad used to put me on a blanket on the floor and I would just stare and be entertained by football games. Mom thinks it was the bright colors and movement that kept me enthralled but I think I just was already learning to love it! I'm am not an expert by any means, but I pretty much know what's going on during the game.

I was raised a little rebel. I even had a shirt to prove it! My parents are alumni of Ole Miss, which happens to be where they met and were married while still in school. Mom was in the marching band and dad just loves sports. There was not a chance I would be raised liking any other team. Even living in Tennessee most of my life, we never switched and cheered for Tennessee even just a little. But, when I moved to Knoxville things began to change a little. Zach loves TN football and you really can't go anywhere in Knoxville on game day without seeing most everyone wearing some sort of something TN orange. I started watching more TN games and couldn't help but cheer a little. But I still was not going to let go of my roots.

The real test came when UT played Ole Miss in Knoxville. Mom, Dad, Zach and I all went to the game. Of course Mom and dad wore Ole Miss stuff and Zach wore TN orange. I was torn. I would have chosen to wear my Ole Miss t-shirt and TN sweatshirt if hadn't been 100 degrees outside. But since I was a student at UT and it was way to hot for a t-shirt and sweatshirt and I couldn't let Zach be the only one in orange... I wore my TN t-shirt. I may wear TN on the outside and I'll cheer for them, but the Ole Miss rebels will always be closest to my heart.

Words that will make my dad cringe and my husband smile.... "Let's Go UT"

This is a great picture of you and Zach.

I couldn't ever get him to root for the Razorbacks .He is a Tennessee boy all the way.
