Quick Trip to Atlanta

I realized a couple of months ago that I hadn't had any continuing ed this year. I have to have a certain amount every year to keep up with my license. So, when I got a brochure in the mail about a course that would be in Atlanta the first of December I signed up. I knew I'd have to be going by myself since I'd waited so long and it was a last minute thing so my plan was to just get up early and drive to Atlanta, go to my all day class, and drive home. Zach and mom were not too excited about this idea and my mom came up with the great idea to make it a girls weekend!

I made reservations at the hotel where the conference was and made the early morning, like 3:30 am, drive to Atlanta and hit downtown right at rush hour. Fun. There were seriously 7 lanes of traffic all going 60 mph. Thankfully my GPS steered me right and I made it to the hotel in plenty of time. I was hoping the course wouldn't be awful and that I wouldn't fall asleep. I had been getting over being sick for a good while and I still wasn't feeling 100%. The course was actually really good. I had no trouble staying awake! The speaker was easy to follow and kept my attention. It was a really good review of the brain anatomy and function and it really made me miss school. I love to learn!

Mom made it to the hotel that evening and we went to dinner at the Wendy's across the street before I had to go to the last session. It was a really long day but it went by pretty quickly and I got in all the credits I needed. I got back to the room and couldn't stop yacking about all the cool stuff I'd learned. Every time I hear so much detail about the brain and how it works, I am even more in awe of how amazingly creative the Lord is to design something so intricate and unique for each person.

Saturday morning we had no plans really except we knew we didn't want to venture too far from the hotel. We headed to the mall for an extremely random time. Within the first 30 minutes we had bought stamps at the post office in the mall and gotten a pedicure. Within the next 30 minutes we had bought nothing. Wow! We made up for it though! When we got hungry we headed to a yummy Italian lunch and then back for a little more shopping. I even got a shoulder massage from the little Chinese man in the middle. I made mom stay with me though... I had my head down and I needed "eyes". Before we left, we got some cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory and made it safely back to the hotel. We were in our pjs by 6:00 where we ate our cheesecake for dinner and watched the end of the SEC championsip game game and then watched "Made of Honor". Oh and we went to sleep by our sleep machine compliments of the hotel.

Sunday morning we slept in and considered trying to find our old house but changed our minds at the prospect of getting lost and then still having to drive home. So we got some lunch, shopped a little more and went our separate ways.

It was perfect. Except for the separate ways part.
