I've been looking forward to a chance to take Cooper back to the park for a little while, but it's been so hot that I just didn't feel like getting us out in the weather. Yesterday, I was able to work my half day in the morning and decided the afternoon was perfect to take little man to the park.
I could hardly wait for him to wake up from his nap and as soon as he was up and changed we hit the road. He was in such a good mood! We stopped by Sonic and just barely made happy hour and got an $.81 strawberry slushie. So good! We got to the park and it was a little warm, but the sun stayed behind the clouds most of the time we were there so it wasn't too warm.
We went for a walk around the trail and we both walked. He was so funny at first and would walk a little ways and then stop and put his hands out in front of him like he wanted me to pick him up. I told him we were both walking and he'd keep going. It wasn't long before he noticed the little sticks and long pieces of grass and stopped to investigate and carry them with him. He tried to fit as many in his hands as he could. So funny!
There was a little plane that came overhead while we were walking and he stopped to watch it go by. It wasn't long before he was getting brave and trying to go the opposite direction, so we had a battle of wills and Mommy won by picking him up and carrying him a ways until he was ready to walk with me again.
We ended up at the little playground and played on the swings and slide for a few minutes, but Cooper wasn't really interested in that. The whole playground area was mulch which in Cooper's eyes = tons and tons of little sticks to pick up. At that point, I decided it was time to go and we headed back home.
Such a fun little outing with my little man. I adore watching him explore the world and hearing his "commentary" on everything.
